The virtually painless scalp micropigmentation procedure involves the use of highly specialised equipment and unique techniques to carefully and expertly inject all-natural and custom-colored pigments into the scalp creating a completely natural look to the patient’s hairline.

Scalp Micropigmentation is a practice that has been used for years, although its uses were limited to aesthetic concepts. To date, hair tattoo had always been applied in beauty procedures, mainly in women, coming to be considered a permanent makeup technique, although it is not a permanent pigmentation tatto but rather a long-lasting one, since it is advisable to review the pigmentation every some time.

As scalp micropigmentation name suggests, it is about pigmenting certain areas of the skin. There are many beauty centres in which cosmetic tattoo is used to outline the eyebrows or lips, but scalp micropigmentation is more aimed at covering areas of the scalp. This is a simple, yet meticulous, procedure in which the skin is pigmented with tiny dots, and the process itself is quite similar to getting a tattoo.

About Permanent Makeup

Cosmetic tattoo Perth

Cosmetic tattoo (permanent makeup) has a number of significant advantages:
• is not washed off with water (beach, pool, sauna, shower);
• there is no need for eyebrow plucking and chemotherapy, with the help of tattooing you can not only create a pattern of thin hair, but also create the effect of thick hair;
• with the help of permanent makeup, you can make very natural moles or freckles;
• there is no need for a daily tedious makeup procedure.
Solves the problem of clogged pores and skin irritation from decorative cosmetics.

Humanity learned about tattoos a long time ago, and about what permanent makeup is – only at the end of the 20th century. With the invention of the American cosmetologist O’Reilly, who in 1880 invented the first electric tattoo machine, it became possible to apply designs faster. The adaptation of this technology to permanent makeup took place gradually. Special thin needles, absolutely safe pigments and high-speed machines for the application of the picture appeared relatively recently.

Permanent makeup or cosmetic tattooing is a method of colour correction of the shape of the lips, eyebrows, eyelids, which allows you to create the desired contour of the eyebrows, eyes and lips, practically without traumatising the skin.

Permanent makeup

How the cosmetic tattoo procedure is carried out and its consequences.
Permanent eye make-up allows you to forget about the need for constant eyeliner once and for all. It favourably emphasises the shape of the eyes, visually enlarges or reduces them. In permanent eye makeup, there is a division into the upper and lower eyelids. Emphasising the ciliary edge of the upper eyelid makes the eyes more expressive: the eyelashes appear fluffy, the pupil brighter. This makeup looks spectacular on any face, with any cut and shape of the eyes and any skin tone. Emphasising the ciliary edge of the upper eyelid can be an independent procedure.

The lower eyelid is not always emphasised: often the drawing of both the upper and lower eyelids visually narrows the eye. In addition, emphasising the lower eyelid visually can lower the level of the eyes, which is not always the desired result.

There is only one row of eyelashes on the lower eyelid. A very thin, clear line is drawn near the roots of the eyelashes or under the eyelashes, thus visually enlarging the eyes.

Women who are tired of torturing themselves with regular eyebrow plucking and waxing will definitely appreciate the benefits of permanent eyebrow makeup. Permanent makeup can be applied both, in the form of a separate thinnest line, and completely repeat natural eyebrows, with each hair being drawn separately. Any shape and thickness is possible.

Do you want to change the shape of your lips, give them volume, enlarge, align, change their colour? Unbelievable, but true – modern technologies of permanent make-up and tattooing allow you to do all this!

Permanent makeup nipple and areola tattooing, often also called correction, is also possible. Of course, without surgery, changing the shape of the nipples is impossible. But the competent use of all available technologies and techniques, such as: drawing the contour, pigmentation, allows you to make the nipples more expressive and, of course, sexy. This procedure is absolutely safe.

Besides, permanent makeup is “prescribed” for those who have to touch up, mask, paint over something on their face several times a day with makeup in their hands in front of the mirror. It allows, without damaging the delicate skin of the face, to change the shape and colour of the lips, eyebrows, and to emphasise the eyes. Spicy moles can be applied if desired. And you can solve more serious problems – to hide the “hare lip”, to mask small scars, spots.

Tattooing will provide significant assistance to patients with congenital and acquired defects in appearance:
• “cleft lip”;
• alopecia (loss of eyebrows and eyelashes);
• facial trauma and the consequences of reconstructive plastic surgery;
• will help correct and emphasise the contours of the nipple halo and areola after mastopexy surgery.

Cosmetic tattoo

One should be prepared for mild painful sensations in some cases, although external anaesthesia is used during the micro pigmentation procedure. After the procedure, a slight swelling may occur, which does not disfigure the face, but somewhat increases the volume of the lips and eyelids. Eyebrows usually do not swell. The next day it goes away, but the contour within the next 4-5 days will be 50%, and on the lips up to 80% brighter, until a very delicate crust leaves, which looks more like skin peeling off. The pigment that has been absorbed will be less bright than immediately after the procedure.
The shade of the tattoo pigment can vary depending on the pigmentation of the client’s skin and it is very difficult to determine exactly how it will turn out in the end. The shade can also change at any time due to the use of new drugs or prolonged sun exposure without a sunscreen.

To match the exact colour, you need to take into account the individual skin colour. And this is quite difficult. Therefore, to help the specialist, guidelines have been developed, where there is information on the individual selection of pigments for 300 types of skin (including problem ones), which are not carried out “by eye”, but based on an accurate mathematical calculation, exact recipes for mixing and correcting shades are given.

The second and third procedures (touch up) with a frequency of 4-6 weeks are needed to enhance the saturation of the contour and its correction, because pigment can be absorbed unevenly (it depends on the individual properties of the skin) and some areas may look paler, some brighter. Repetition achieves uniform saturation and symmetry of the pattern. The treatment sites must be lubricated with cream. It is not recommended applying makeup until complete healing. It is not recommended visiting the sauna, swimming pool, solarium, swim in the ocean for 7-10 days. The face should be protected from direct sunlight, not to do other cosmetic procedures. After the procedure, there may be edema in the eyes, which usually disappears by the evening of the next day.

Immediately after the procedure, the specialist applies a special cream to the affected area, which has a bactericidal effect and relieves inflammation and irritation.

After the permanent makeup procedure it is recommended to rinse the tattoo area with purified cool water to avoid the formation of a thick crust during the first day. In extreme cases, if dryness occurs, you can use hygienic lipstick. Means that accelerate skin regeneration should be used from the second day. After that, it is recommended to apply a protective layer of hygienic lipstick or sunscreen. During the healing process, direct exposure to ultraviolet rays and any steaming procedures (bath, sauna, cosmetic procedures) must be avoided. You cannot remove the crust yourself. Final healing occurs in 3-4 weeks.

Remember that it is almost impossible to correct some physiological features with the help of permanent makeup: deep-set eyes, drooping eyelids, “bags” under the eyes, but most of the natural “inaccuracies” can be corrected.

This procedure is already widely represented on the market for cosmetology services, but there are still cases of poor-quality tattooing – these are blurry and blurred lines on the eyelids, incorrectly executed lip contours, a sharp change in eyebrow colour up to red or blue … This is due to low professional level of masters. In some cases master can be 20 years in the business and have terrible results. Permanent makeup is a very delicate and painstaking work.

The most difficult and important thing in the permanent makeup procedure is the correct injection technique. This concept includes: the required depth of application of the pigment, the ideal character of the lines and uniformity of colouring. The main thing, of course, is the puncture depth, which is controlled only by the hand of the master.
Permanent makeup will very likely become your companion for the coming years once you tried it.

How Long Does Permanent Makeup Heal?

Permanent makeup, also known as cosmetic tattooing, is a popular procedure that can save you time on your beauty routine. However, you need to properly care for your permanent makeup as it heals to achieve the best results.

Healing times vary based on factors like your age and skin type. Here is an overview of what to expect during the healing process for different permanent makeup procedures, along with tips for optimal healing.

Healing Timelines for Different Permanent Makeup Procedures

The healing timeline for permanent makeup can range from 5-14 days on average. Here are more details on healing times for specific procedures:

  • Eyebrows and Eyeliner Cosmetic Tattoos: These generally take the longest to heal. Expect 7-14 days on average for eyebrows and eyeliner. Those with oily skin may be on the longer end of this timeline.
  • Lip Tattoos: Lip tattoos tend to heal faster than eye tattoos, with complete healing typically occurring in 5-7 days.

Below is a table summarizing typical permanent makeup healing timelines:

Type of Permanent MakeupAverage Healing Time
Eyebrows7-14 days
Eyeliner7-14 days
Lip Tattoo5-7 days

Key Factors That Affect Healing Times

Healing times can vary based on individual factors like:

  • Age – Younger people tend to heal faster. As we age, cell turnover slows down.
  • Skin type – Oily skin may take a bit longer to heal than dry or normal skin types.
  • Aftercare – Proper aftercare speeds healing. Poor aftercare can prolong healing.

What to Expect During the Healing Process

Here’s an overview of what to expect as your permanent makeup heals:

Days 1-2:

  • The tattooed area may be swollen and tender.
  • Keep the area moist with ointment as directed.
  • Strictly avoid wetting the area.

Days 3-4:

  • Flaking and peeling begins as a thin protective crust forms.
  • Resist picking at flakes. Let them fall off naturally.

Days 5-7:

  • More significant peeling occurs. The outline of the tattoo becomes defined.
  • Swelling goes down further.

Days 7-14:

  • Flaking tapers off. Area becomes smoother.
  • Color appears softer and lighter.

2+ Weeks:

  • Healing is complete. The area should be smooth.
  • Final color and results are visible. The color will appear more natural.

For lips, this same timeline applies but accelerated by a few days.

What to Expect Long-Term

Once healed, the pigmented area will gradually lighten over the next six months. Plan for a touch up appointment at 4-6 weeks to reinforce permanent makeup results. Repeated touch ups are needed every 1-1.5 years.

Aftercare Tips for Permanent Makeup Healing

Follow these crucial aftercare guidelines for proper permanent makeup healing:

  • Keep the area clean and dry. Avoid direct water contact.
  • Apply ointment sparingly to avoid over-moisturizing.
  • Avoid touching, scrubbing or picking at the area.
  • No facials, chemical peels, microdermabrasion or lasers for 4 weeks.
  • Avoid swimming, hot yoga, saunas, and sweaty exercise for 10 days.
  • Avoid direct sun exposure until fully healed. Wear SPF 30+.
  • Take care applying and removing facial products while healing.
  • Avoid sleeping on your face during the first week.

See your permanent makeup artist promptly if you have signs of infection like pus, redness that spreads, warm to the touch, fever or flu-like symptoms.

It takes 4-6 weeks for permanent makeup to fully settle. Book a touch up 4-6 weeks out for ideal results.

The color will appear darker and more intense for the first 5 days. Then it lightens gradually. The final color will look softer and more natural.

Should I apply ointment the entire healing period?

ADVICE Try to wash your hair without getting wet, preferably with an assistant. As a way out of the situation - go to the hairdresser. You shouldn't wet out your eyes, but clean them gently in the morning dry. Keep your lips under a thin layer of Vaseline for 4-5 days.

RECOMMENDATIONS We do not recommend any healing creams or ointments after cosmetic tattoo procedure. With them, it heals faster, but the ointments accelerate regeneration and prevent the pigment from remaining in the skin in large quantities. After the crusts have come off, you can wait about a month for the colour to fully develop. The skin is restored for a month. Therefore, it is not worth doing a second touch up procedure earlier than 30 days later. With proper care, everything heals very quickly!

The benefits of permanent makeup or cosmetic tattoo.

permanent makeup & cosmetic tattoo

Permanent makeup allows every girl and woman to look perfect in any situation. Well-done eyebrows tattoo, lips, and eyelids will allow you to forget about the need to keep an eye on floating lipstick or a constantly smearing pencil on vacation, and will also eliminate the need to run to the mirror in the early morning and spend from half an hour to put yourself in order.

Long-lasting semi-permanent makeup is performed by injecting into the top layer of the skin an organic and harmless paint made on a mineral basis and does not cause allergic reactions. Before the tattoo will appear on the face, the master must draw a sketch that allows the client to assess the future result. Only after receiving approval, a special machine is used, which allows you to make an indelible makeup.

The range of services in Elite Look is diverse. Clients have the opportunity to make permanent makeup for eyebrows, eyelids, or lips with a professional master. The work is carried out using modern materials and modern instruments in a sterile environment.

Cosmetic tattooing makes it possible to always look well-groomed, save a lot of precious time, and last but not least save money on lipsticks and other types of cosmetics used for daily makeup.

Nature has not endowed everyone with beautiful eyebrows. That is why many women choose cosmetic tattooing. It allows you to create the effect of thicker eyebrows that have clear outlines, hide possible defects or asymmetry, and change their shape.

Lips become visually larger and more expressive after applying permanent makeup. Also, with the help of tattooing, you can make flirty moles in any part of the face, as well as improve the shape of existing ones (except for convex ones).

The laborious and painstaking process of drawing arrows on the eyelids will also remain in the past. The master, using a special pigment, will apply a kennel of the desired shape.

A well-done cosmetic tattoo will save a lot of time every day. The time for how long last a new cosmetic tattoo depends on many factors such as the type of skin and age of the customer etc. The cosmetic tattoo may last from a year to up to 2 to 5 years.

Permanent Makeup: Why and How?

Permanent makeup tattoo

Want to throw away your eyeliner, lip liner, and blush forever? Some women are switching to permanent makeup or cosmetic tattoos, so that the makeup does not smudge or smudge. Will you submit to the needle in the name of beauty?

If someone had told Claudia last year that she would get a tattoo at the age of forty-eight, she would have told them they were crazy. Now she’s delighted with her new look.

“When people ask me, ‘Where is the tattoo?’ I tell them they are seeing it. ” Then wink your eyes. “The liner and lip color are permanent. People say it looks like makeup and I tell them they’re right.”

Various ancient Mediterranean cultures practiced cosmetic tattooing, as evidenced by the tattooed mummies that archaeologists found. Cosmetic tattooing experienced a renaissance in the United States in the late 1970s and today there are a growing number of cosmetologists, tattoo artists, nurses, and aesthetic professionals in the industry.

If you think permanent makeup is purely for vanity, think again.

“Cosmetic reasons is one area, but there are many more practical applications,” says Charles S. Zwerling, MD, FACS, director of the American Academy of Micropigmentation. For women with arthritis, stroke, Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, or other conditions that cause tremors, putting on makeup can be an impossible task. Permanent makeup takes away your frustration. Women with poor eyesight, blindness, or cataracts are also good candidates.

“Cataracts make putting on makeup impossible,” says Margaret, a 60-year-old grandmother. “Now my makeup looks good all the time!”

Also, a cosmetic tattoo helps women who suffer from allergies or hypersensitivity to makeup. Female athletes and other physically active women are opting for permanent cosmetics, as well as businesswomen, artists, models, and homemakers.

For women who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy (alopecia is a scientific term for hair loss without knowing its cause), permanent eyebrows and eyeliner can restore self-esteem and eliminate the need to reapply it to all eyebrows. The days. Also, the cosmetic tattoo helps to treat vitiligo (a condition in which the skin loses its pigmentation). Permanent makeup can blend light skin tones with the surrounding normal-colored skin.

The most common procedures are eyeliner, eyebrow liner, as well as lip liner, and the largest age group seeking treatment are women in their 30s to 40s, says Dr. Zwerling. Another popular procedure is for a “paramedical” restoration of an areola.

“Areola restoration after breast reconstruction is a very acceptable procedure and offers spectacular results,” says Dr. Zwerling. Cosmetic tattooing is used also to make scars less visible and to blend them with the surrounding skin color.

Blush application is not recommended for anyone who gets a lot of sun exposure. Women with vitiligo who choose permanent makeup should limit their time of exposure to the sun. The tattoo does not protect them from the UV rays of the sun. Both procedures generally require several sessions to complete.

Regardless of the body area or technique, the concept is always the same: place iron oxide or titanium dioxide pigments under the skin. What varies is how much pigment is used, the color and whether manual or electric instruments are used, says Dr. Zwerling. Pamela Netz, owner / operator of a permanent cosmetology salon in Tucson, Arisona and a member of the Society of Permanent Cosmetic Professionals (SPCP), prefers hand tools.

“They don’t seem to hurt people as much or cause as much inflammation,” she explains. “And there is no scab formation because there is no bleeding.” Also highly trained machine technicians can provide a light touch.

Before having your procedure, you should have a consultation with the technician and review your medical history, Netz says. “We like to know if clients need antibiotics before dental or medical procedures and if they get cold sores in the case of lip procedures.”

The amount of discomfort from this type of tattoo depends on the lower back pain, the skill of the technician, and the procedure. Various topical anesthetic and paralytic products are used to make the procedure as painless as possible. “The key is allowing time for the anesthetic to take effect,” says Netz.

Expect some bruising and swelling, Netz says. This lasts 2 to 3 days for eye procedures and up to a week for lip procedures. Ice and an antibiotic ointment can relieve symptoms and you should avoid using alpha hydroxy acid products or topical tretinoin on tattooed areas as they can lighten pigments.

How permanent is the permanent makeup?

It’s a difficult question, pigments are permanent, but they fade over time and will require touch-ups.

Both sunlight and regular light can lighten the color. Another reason is that the pigments are not set as deep or as strong as they should be on the arm due to the very delicate facial skin. For some women, the pain lasts for more than a decade without fading significantly.

According to Dr. Zwerling, for ten years, less than one percent of people who undergo permanent cosmetic procedures have had an allergic reaction to pigment. To help prevent problems, the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have established industry standards.

If you take blood thinners or immunosuppressant medications or have an acute illness, do not have permanent cosmetic procedures. According to the Dermatology Times, anyone with a history of oral herpes should take an antiviral medication before undergoing permanent makeup.

Also, not following sterilised standard procedures could be a means of transmission of different pathogens such as viruses (eg, hepatitis C ). However, there is no information in the United States that indicates that only people with tattoo exposures are at high risk. Less than 1% of people with newly acquired hepatitis C who reported to the CDC sentinel surveillance system had a history of having a tattoo.

High-energy, short-pulse lasers (for example, Q-switch type lasers, which emit visible and near-infrared light) have recently been developed to remove tattoos, with the risk of scarring. The mechanism of action and possible adverse effects other than scarring and hypo pigmentation are completely unknown. People with cosmetic tattoos need to be very careful when undergoing laser treatments to the area. There are multiple cases of pulse-induced laser tattoos, with immediate and irreversible darkening of the cosmetic and tattoos of white, flesh (skin color) and pink with red coloration. Irreversible ink darkening can be an insidious complication, because the immediate whiteness of the skin temporarily obscures the subsequent imposing color change. Among these cases, the irreversible darkening of the ink occurred with ruby lasers of the Q-Switch type (694 nm), with neodymium lasers of the Q-Switch (Nd) type: YAG (1064 nm / 532 nm) and with lasers green ink pulse (510 nm).

Generally, the initial procedure takes 1½ to 2½ hours; touch-ups generally take less time. But beauty comes at a price – the average cost per procedure is $ 400 to $ 600. Skilled work is generally charged by the hour, often starting at $ 150 to $ 250 per hour.

Susan Preston, past president of the SPCP, recommends acquiring a permanent cosmetology technician in the same way that she does acquiring a doctor. Learn about the industry and procedures, and visit the place where you are considering doing them.
